We want your portrait experience to be something truly special, and one that will capture the moments and memories of your life in images that you will cherish for a lifetime.

Portrait Collections

Experience the difference at Carr Portrait Art.

Meet with Rick or Elise at our gallery and office  to plan & schedule your session.  Planning is the first step to creating quality portraits.  At most studios, you schedule your session, walk in, fill out some paper work, and start "shooting."

For individuals, families or children, a portrait stops the changes and preserves the memories of the moment - the memories you want to cherish for a lifetime.  A family portrait should be a piece of art - to be valued more than any painting or art print that may currently decorate your home - if for no other reason than, "this is my family."  A beautiful family portrait should reflect your values.  It should also help reinforce those values - a constant reminder of the love you share as a family.

Our studio is separate from our offices.  You may choose the location for your portraits.  We encourage you to consider locations that are special to you and your family - at your home, a park, the lake, the mountains, a family farm....  If you would like, Rick or Elise can meet with you in your home for your consultation to help you better plan clothing and the best location for your portrait.  If you prefer, your "location" may be at our studio, or our exclusive outdoor portrait park.

Want to go someplace exotic? Me, too! If your favorite place involves travel, that's okay. If it involves an overnight stay, we ask that you pay for transportation and hotel for a night or two as needed for the specific location & distance for a photographer and one assistant. (This applies to family portraits, weddings or honeymoons.)

When you book your portrait session, a $50 reservation fee reserves your appointment date.

We will give you a planning guide to help you determine which portrait collection will best meet your needs.

Portrait Finishes

Experience the difference at Carr Portrait Art.

Most studios offer a reprint finish that is the same as their "proofs."  Whatever name they use for it - "Basic," "Standard" - it generally means these prints receive no retouch or other finishing services.  These are their lowest price prints, and the prices usually quoted when you ask "how much." This is to get you in the door. In order to get any retouch or a higher quality finish on your portraits, you must pay a higher price.

We have decided to do things differently from most photography studios. We do not play games with prices. We would like to meet with you in person to discuss your photography needs. When you put it all in context and compare what we offer to the same finishes and services that other studios charge extra for (including session fees, customer service, print finishing services, combining images in your portrait collections), you'll find you will usually save money with us.

All reprints from Carr Portrait Art receive retouching of blemishes, softening of facial lines, and minimal finishing art.  Wall portraits (11x14 and larger) receive additional enhancement as needed for the most artistic expression.  They are then mounted on heavy artboard, sealed with a photographic lacquer coating, and framed.

Removal of braces, swapping heads or facial expressions, removing someone from, or adding someone to, a group portrait can also be done.  An additional art fee is required for these services.

We also offer a Canvas finish.  After all finishing artwork is completed, your portrait is adhered to a fine artist's canvas and mounted on heavy artboard for an heirloom quality portrait.

Portrait orders made easy:

Tired of fumbling with paper "proofs" after your portrait session? You go home, spread them out, almost decide what you want, until someone says, "are you sure?" Then you have to clear the table for dinner, and hope there's time to spread them out again later. Sound familiar?

At the time of your portrait session, we will schedule a time for you to come back and view your images projected on a screen at our office. Bring everyone who is involved in ordering, as this is the time you will choose your portraits. We will use our expertise to help you narrow down your choices and choose the prints and sizes that will best meet your needs.

Payment:  We accept cash or checks, Visa, Discover, AmericanExpress, or MasterCard.

Add 9% sales tax to all orders.

Reservation Fees, Sessions and Portrait Collections

Reservation Fees

The Reservation Fee of $50 is due at the time the session is booked.  The appointment is not scheduled until the reservation fee is paid.  You may do this by credit card, or by cash, check, or credit card at our gallery/offices.  Please take care of this well before the session to make sure the appointment time you desire is reserved for you and not booked by someone else.

We put a lot of time and effort into staying on top of the latest techniques and creative ideas for sets, lighting, posing. We're always looking for what's new and hot, especially in our senior photography.  Your session reservation fee pays for our time, materials, and expertise in creating your images.
