About us:

Rick: Photography was always a hobby.  In fact, when I was younger, I didn't think of pursuing it as a career, because it was a hobby.  After years of jobs that took me away from home, family and community, I decided it was time for a change. In 1995, I began to photograph professionally - working other jobs on the side while I tried to get the photography business up and going.  We starved (not literally, but it was pretty rough for awhile).  In July '97, the job I was doing was "phased out . . . as of yesterday."  (I'm glad it was "phased out" -- I would have hated to lose it suddenly!)  I've been full-time in photography since then. For more perspective on this check out my November 21st blog-entry at Carr Portrait News.

Over the years, I've worked hard to hone my craft, having my work critiqued by master photographers and diligently applying their suggestions;  taking classes and attending seminars; participating in professional photography organizations at the local, state, and national levels, and serving as president of Metro Professional Photographers Association (in OKCity) in 2003; becoming a PPA Certified Professional Photographer in June 2002, participating in state-wide, regional, and international professional print competitions -- a great way to improve one's photographic techniques and eye for what makes a quality print.

Elise: I love photographing children and weddings.  However, lately, my passion for children's portraiture has grown immensely; there's just something about building a relationship with a two year old during the session, and have her run and jump in your arms the next time she sees you, that makes you want be around little kids all the time.
I absolutely love my job. I build relationships with my clients that have lasted for years...to many of them I'm more than just their photographer - which makes me love my job more and more every day.

Elise graduated from the University of Central Oklahoma with a major in photojournalism.  She is also a PPA Certified Professional Photographer, having earned her certification in February 2005!  She works in the office and studio, photographs most of our one photographer weddings, and assists with the larger weddings -- shooting candids, photojournalistic images and black & whites. She is a member of Metro Professional Photographers Association and Professional Photographers of Oklahoma and Professional Photographers of America.

Trish: Trish is Rick's wife.  She has her own career as a high school math teacher, currently teaching Algebra I & II and Geometry at Bridge Creek High School.  She also helps in the studio after school and on weekends, and assists at most of our weddings with posing, lighting, and general "go-fer" duties.  She has been indispensable to the success of the studio through her own hard work and her support and encouragement to her husband.  She is a member of Metro Professional Photographers Association and Professional Photographers of Oklahoma.
